This workshop is perfect for anyone who’s wanted to try improv comedy in a fun, supportive environment.
Walking onstage with nothing written down may seem daunting, but it’s a lot easier than it sounds — plus you’ll spend all class laughing! The skills you’ll learn here are also applicable to public speaking and other forms of performance art.
This workshop is facilitated by the Improv Embassy, Ottawa’s only studio dedicated to improv and sketch comedy. The instructors are Adriana Johnston and Laura Jarecsni.
Adriana got started in improv at the ICC Theatre in beautiful Copenhagen, Denmark. Now she’s active in the Improv Embassy as a student, coach and volunteer. She loves improvising with her team, CLAM, and is wild about persian rugs!
Laura knows that improv is first and foremost about having fun. She started performing improv in 2012 and never looked back, becoming 3 term president of McGill improv, competing all over, and having a dang good time. In Ottawa she performs with CLAM and Chess Club 7 and coaches student teams, on top of teaching real life non-improv school full time.
